The nurse checked over the life support equipment one more time before turning off the lights and closing the door as she left. After she was gone, a tall yet thin man stepped out from the darkness of the shadows; his pale complexion standing out against his black suit. He approached the bed and disgustingly glared at the machines before looking down at the patient.
“You are overdue, friend. You have been living on borrowed time. Not that this is living. I should have come sooner, but let’s not dwell on that. I’m a busy man and it’s time to go.”
